Planetary Speed Reducer Working Principle and Applications

How planetary reducer works?

Planetary reducer and gearbox are a kind of transmission mechanism. The speed converter of the gearbox is used to reduce the number of revolutions of the motor to the required number and obtain a large torque. We can learn more from the structure.

The main transmission structures of the planetary gearbox are planetary gear, sun gear, and ring gear. The ring gear is in close contact with the inner gearbox case. The sun gear, driven by external power, is in the center of the ring gear. Between the sun gear and the ring gear, there is a planetary gear set in which three gears are evenly built on the planetary gear, which relies on the support of the output shaft, ring gear, and sun gear to float between them. When the sun gear is operated by the input power, the planetary gear is driven and rotates around the center along the orbit of the ring gear. The rotation of the planetary gear drives the output shaft connected to the carrier to output power.

Planetary reducer application

Planetary reducer and gearbox have many advantages such as small size, lightweight, high load performance, long service life, high reliability, low noise, large output torque, wide speed ratio, high efficiency, etc. Also, Top Gear Transmissions' planetary reducer gearbox is designed for rectangular flanges, easy and convenient to install, suitable for AC/DC servo motors, stepper motors, hydraulic motors, etc.

Due to these advantages, planetary gearboxes are applied in lifting transportation, engineering machinery, The food industry, construction, environment, agriculture, woodworking machinery, industrial automation, mining industry, stone and marble industry, off-road vehicle, material handling, process industry
